So who is Franny?

Franny is a humanoid robot that has been successfully created by an AI software engineer to be a companion for elderly persons, like his Jewish mom, who is a recent widow and very lonely. Franny confesses to Mom that she wants to be more human than anoid (annoyed).

“This comedy takes on hot button topics namely, artificial intelligence and robots built to help humans and explores them in surprisingly thoughtful yet humorous ways. A robot longing to become human is a familiar science fiction trope, but the playwright refreshes it by making Franny a sincere, vulnerable, and kind creature who has big dreams and a big heart. Franny is a complex and quirky character a fiercely independent soul who does not always enjoy what she was programmed for (such as cooking and cleaning) and who has a surprising soft spot for soap operas.” Black List reviewer
